Transitioning your favorite pieces from Summer to Winter.

Posted by Jessica Hinkle on

I don't know about you, but some of my favorite pieces happen to be a little unfriendly for Winter wear. However, I'm not really into following rules. Tights are a wonderful gift bestowed from the heavens above. They allow you to transition some of your cute skirts and dresses into the colder months. And here in Chicago, it gets pretty cold! I've always had fun with layering. I recently took some shots to show how to make the cute skater skirt from our shop work year-round. Excuse this indoor shot. I wanted to get a photo of my outfit without a coat before heading out.

Here I am wearing our textured black skater skirt found here! I love the length and the textured material. It's great for Summer but it's Winter now and I didn't want to pack it away! I paired it with some fleece lined tights from Lane Bryant. I have trouble finding tights that fit because I carry a lot of weight in my lower abdomen and thighs. These tights work great and provide a nice layer of warmth. They work great with skirts and dresses. The lace up boots are from Asos and come in wide width! My grey cropped sweater is from Torrid and paired with the skirt worn on my natural waist, I am not showing any midriff. It's a cute look, without sacrificing warmth. The geometric necklace is also from us here at Proud Mary Fashion and it adds a great industrial kind of element. Find it here. I like to think of this look as a sleek nod to Empire Records.

It's not Rex Manning Day but I love Corey's outfit every day!

It's been snowing here and I used this cute umbrella from Forever 21 to keep my hair from getting wet. The only pop of color I used was this amazing Stila lipstick in a shade called 'Betsey.' It's one of my go-to colors! I added another neutral color with this amazing long line coat. It's similar to one I saw on Asos a couple of months ago. This one was pulled from Proud Mary's Vintage vault and it's been keeping me warm and stylish! I think all neutrals are fun because then you can really play up your makeup or accessories. Just ask Joanne.

I've been playing around with rings lately. I have fat fingers and finding vintage rings that fit is not easy. This moon rings is super cute. I bought it from Lovesick Vintage. The turquoise ring is one of my favorites right now. It doesn't fit so I wear it as a midi-ring. It's all about thinking outside the box to make pieces you love work for you!

Until next time, loves. Stay tuned for some exciting things coming really soon!
